Visfatin — also called nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) and pre-B-cell colony-enhancing factor (PBEF) — is a roughly 52 kDa adipocytokine central to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) biosynthesis. Dysregulated circulating visfatin is reported in obesity, type 2 diabetes, atherosclerosis, inflammatory disorders, and several tumor types, making this analyte a useful biomarker in murine metabolic, cardiovascular, and oncology research. The Assay Genie kit is supplied as a microplate-based competitive immunoassay for quantifying mouse visfatin in cell culture supernatants and serum, with all assay reagents, standards, and a pre-coated microplate included. Reconstituted standards should be aliquoted and stored frozen; the kit is intended for in vitro research use only and is not for diagnostic procedures.
