Viperin, the interferon-induced protein encoded by the RSAD2 gene, is a central effector of innate antiviral immunity and a widely used marker of type I interferon signaling in murine model systems. This quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie is built to measure mouse viperin levels in research samples, supporting investigations in virology, immunology, and infectious disease.
The kit is supplied as a 96-assay microplate format suitable for moderate-throughput studies. Each kit includes pre-coated wells, detection reagents, and a recombinant standard for generating a calibration curve. The assay is intended for research use only and is appropriate for cell culture supernatants, serum, and tissue homogenates prepared from spleen, lung, liver, and brain specimens.
Viperin is sharply upregulated by type I and type II interferons as well as by direct viral infection, making its quantification a sensitive readout of innate immune activation in mouse models of influenza, West Nile virus, and Zika challenge, and in autoimmune disease models and vaccine response characterization performed in vivo. Store components refrigerated upon arrival, protect from light, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of working aliquots.
