FLT4 acts as a tyrosine-protein kinase and a cell-surface receptor for VEGFC and VEGFD, with an essential role in adult lymphangiogenesis and in the development of the vascular network and the cardiovascular system during embryonic development. It promotes proliferation, survival and migration of endothelial cells and regulates angiogenic sprouting. The protein is a single-pass type I membrane protein located at the cell membrane, with additional localization in the cytoplasm and nucleus, and is associated with UniProt entry P35917.
