Description

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative detection of mouse Trypsinogen Activation Peptide (TAP). It is reactive with mouse samples and is validated for use with serum and plasma, with additional sample-type support noted for tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection readout.

TAP is a small peptide released when trypsinogen is activated to trypsin. Under normal physiology, this activation takes place in the intestinal lumen and is catalysed by enteropeptidase, after which TAP is rapidly degraded by brush-border peptidases. In pancreatitis, premature activation of trypsinogen within pancreatic acinar cells causes TAP to enter the peripheral circulation; despite a circulating half-life of less than 8 min and rapid renal excretion, significant increases in plasma and urine TAP concentrations have been reported in acute pancreatitis, and TAP assays have been used to diagnose and stage pancreatitis in humans and dogs. The kit reports a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.08 ng/mL, with intra-assay CV of 8.6% and inter-assay CV of 10.7%. Reported recovery averages 114% in serum (range 108–120%) and 116% in plasma (range 110–120%). The assay is intended for research use only.
