TRPM6 (Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin-like 6) is a bifunctional protein combining a divalent cation channel permeable to magnesium and calcium with an intrinsic alpha-kinase domain. Predominantly expressed along intestinal and renal epithelial surfaces, it governs transcellular magnesium absorption and is the gene mutated in hypomagnesemia with secondary hypocalcemia (HSH), an autosomal recessive disorder first mapped to TRPM6 through positional cloning.

This quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie is calibrated for mouse samples and enables measurement of TRPM6 levels in tissue homogenates. The procedure follows a standard microplate workflow with an absorbance-based endpoint readable on common benchtop plate readers. Each kit supplies reagents for 96 assays, including pre-coated wells, detection antibody, calibrated standards, and wash buffer.

Applications include studies of epithelial magnesium transport, genotype-phenotype comparisons in mouse models of metabolic or renal disease, and investigations of TRPM6 kinase activity and channel-kinase coupling. Tissue preparations from kidney cortex and small intestinal mucosa serve as common starting material. The product is intended for research use only and supports workflows in molecular biology, renal physiology, nutrition science, and ion channel signaling research.
