Description

This Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is designed for the detection of mouse Transferrin receptor protein 1 (Tfrc) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is intended for research use only, supporting studies in areas such as neurosciences and iron homeostasis research.

TFRC is a cell surface transferrin receptor that mediates cellular iron uptake via receptor-mediated endocytosis of ligand-occupied transferrin into specialized endosomes, and is required for development of erythrocytes and the nervous system. The kit detects natural and recombinant mouse Tfrc, which is also known by the synonyms CD71, TR, Trfr, TfR, TfR1, and Trfr. According to the manufacturer, the detection range is 0.78-50ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.395ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 6.4% and an inter-assay CV of 8.8%. The target protein is a disulfide-linked homodimer that localizes to the cell membrane as a single-pass type II membrane protein and is also found in melanosomes.

Linearity testing across dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16 showed the following recovery ranges: serum (N=5) 93-126%, EDTA plasma (N=5) 81-110%, and heparin plasma (N=5) 82-110%. Average recovery was 101% for serum (range 95-107%) and 103% for plasma (range 97-109%). The kit is supplied in a solid phase format with components stored at -20°C and shipped at +4°C.
