Description

From Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA kit is designed to quantitatively measure mouse Thioredoxin reductase 1, cytoplasmic (Txnrd1), a selenocysteine-containing flavoenzyme also referred to by the synonyms TrxR1, TR, and Trxr1. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and accepts a broad range of mouse sample types including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.091 ng/mL, with intra-assay CV of 5.1% and inter-assay CV of 7.6%. Dilutional linearity in serum spans 82-113% across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions, while EDTA plasma spans 92-117% and heparin plasma spans 89-106%. Recovery averages 106% in serum (range 100-112%) and 108% in plasma (range 102-114%). The antibody pair specifically detects natural and recombinant mouse Txnrd1.

Txnrd1 (UniProt Q9JMH6) is a cytoplasmic pyridine nucleotide-disulfide oxidoreductase that functions as a homodimer containing FAD and an essential selenocysteine residue in the active site. The enzyme contributes to thioredoxin reduction, selenium metabolism, cellular redox homeostasis, and protection against oxidative stress, supporting research within the cell biology field. Dysregulation of Txnrd1 has been linked to various diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and cardiovascular diseases, marking it as a biomarker relevant to disease research and therapeutic development.
