TEP1 is a component of the telomerase ribonucleoprotein complex that is essential for the replication of chromosome termini. It additionally forms part of the ribonucleoprotein vaults particle, a multi-subunit structure involved in nucleo-cytoplasmic transport, where it is responsible for localizing and stabilizing vault RNA association in the vault ribonucleoprotein particle and binds to TERC.
