Alpha-synuclein, a 140-amino-acid presynaptic protein encoded by the SNCA gene, can be quantified in murine samples with the Assay Genie Mouse Synuclein Alpha (SNCa) ELISA Kit, an in vitro colorimetric immunoassay built for neuroscience and neuropharmacology laboratories. Researchers studying Parkinson's disease, Lewy body dementia, multiple system atrophy, and related synucleinopathies use this kit to track alpha-synuclein in experimental mouse models, including transgenic and knockout lines common in neurodegeneration research.

The plate is pre-coated with capture antibodies specific for mouse alpha-synuclein; a secondary detection antibody then binds the captured target, producing a measurable color signal proportional to analyte concentration. Validated sample matrices include serum samples, plasma drawn from mouse subjects, brain tissue homogenates prepared from regions such as substantia nigra and striatum, lysates of cultured neurons, and cell culture supernatants harvested from in vitro experiments. Each kit supplies the precoated plate, reference standards, detection antibody, wash and diluent buffers, and substrate sufficient to run a full set of mouse alpha-synuclein measurements.

Typical applications include biomarker discovery in neurodegenerative disease models, evaluation of alpha-synuclein aggregation following treatment with candidate neuroprotective compounds, time-course studies tracking soluble versus aggregated protein fractions after MPTP or rotenone challenge, and validation of gene-expression changes in SNCA-modified mice. The Assay Genie kit supports moderate-throughput mouse sample panels in laboratories running neuroscience, pharmacology, and toxicology research programs. For research use only.
