Description

An ELISA kit from Assay Genie designed for quantitative detection of mouse synaptopodin in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids, with reactivity specific to mouse samples. The assay recognises natural and recombinant mouse Synaptopodin, an actin-associated protein that modulates the actin-based shape and motility of dendritic spines and renal podocyte foot processes, and is described as essential for the formation of spine apparatuses in telencephalic neurons, supporting synaptic plasticity and neuronal development. Dysregulation of synaptopodin has been linked to neurological disorders including Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia, making it a relevant biomarker in neuroscience research.

The assay reports a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.091 ng/mL, with intra-assay CV, inter-assay CV, linearity, and recovery data provided with the kit. Supplied components include a dismountable microplate, lyophilized standard, sample and assay diluents, detection reagents A and B, wash buffer, substrate, stop solution, and plate sealers, with most reagents stored at –20°C and others at 4°C. The signal is read on a microplate reader set to 450 nm, and the kit is intended for research use only. The target corresponds to UniProt accession Q8CC35, with a reported molecular weight of 74,017 Da, gene name Synpo, and additional synonyms including Kiaa1029. In brain tissue, the protein localises to postsynaptic densities, perikarya, and dendritic spines of a subset of synapses. The kit is distributed via Biomol with shipping carried out at +4°C.
