A calcium-dependent lectin of the collectin family, Surfactant Protein D (SP-D) plays a central role in pulmonary innate immunity, and the Assay Genie Mouse Surfactant Associated Protein D ELISA Kit provides quantitative measurement across murine research matrices including serum, lung lavage fluid, plasma-derived specimens, and tissue homogenates. SP-D is secreted primarily by alveolar type II cells and Clara cells, where it contributes to pulmonary surfactant metabolism, opsonization of inhaled pathogens, and modulation of inflammatory responses.

Researchers studying respiratory disease models — including acute lung injury, pulmonary fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and allergic airway inflammation — use this 96 assays colorimetric immunoassay to track SP-D concentrations across disease progression, intervention time points, and treatment cohorts. The kit is also applied in studies of neonatal lung development, smoke-exposure models, and host-pathogen interactions involving influenza, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Aspergillus fumigatus, where SP-D functions as a soluble pattern-recognition receptor.

Each kit contains pre-coated microplate wells, standards, detection antibodies, and buffer components formatted for standard laboratory workflows. Mouse-reactive antibodies enable specific quantification in murine samples, making the kit appropriate for translational respiratory research using in vivo models and in vitro cell culture systems.
