Mouse Succinate-semialdehyde dehydrogenase, mitochondrial (Aldh5a1) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie's Mouse Succinate-semialdehyde dehydrogenase, mitochondrial (Aldh5a1) ELISA Kit is a Sandwich-format immunoassay designed for the accurate measurement of ALDH5A1 levels in mouse samples. Also known by the synonyms Aldehyde dehydrogenase family 5 member A1 and NAD(+)-dependent succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase, the assay is reactive with mouse samples and accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. It is intended for research use only.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.156-10ng/ml and a sensitivity of 0.082ng/mL. Intra-assay precision is 7.5% and inter-assay precision is 9.8%. Linearity has been validated across serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16. Recovery in serum averages 98% (range 92-104%) and in plasma averages 100% (range 94-106%). The kit is specific for natural and recombinant mouse Succinate-semialdehyde dehydrogenase, mitochondrial, and detects the homotetrameric form of the protein located in the mitochondrion.

ALDH5A1 catalyzes one step in the degradation of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). Dysregulation of the enzyme has been implicated in various neurological disorders, making it a valuable biomarker for studies of the GABA catabolic pathway and associated conditions.
