STUB1, also known as CHIP, is an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that ubiquitinates misfolded or damaged client proteins and targets them for proteasomal degradation. It also modulates Hsp70 and Hsp90 chaperone activity, linking protein folding, stress response, and clearance. Altered STUB1 expression is investigated in mouse models of neurodegeneration, cardiac hypertrophy, and several tumour types, where quantitative read-outs of STUB1 abundance support studies of proteostasis and disease progression.
