Description

From Assay Genie, this competitive ELISA kit is designed for the precise measurement of somatostatin (SST) levels in mouse serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants. It uses a colorimetric detection method based on the Competitive-ELISA principle, in which a biotinylated detection antibody and target antigen in standards or samples compete for binding to antigen pre-coated on the microplate, followed by an Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate. Substrate development is read at 450 nm ± 2 nm, with colour intensity inversely proportional to antigen concentration.

Reported sensitivity is 4.69 pg/mL and the detection range is 7.81-500 pg/mL, with recovery of 80%-120%. The full assay is completed in 2 h 30 min using a sample volume of 50 μL. The kit specifically recognises Mouse SST in samples, with no significant cross-reactivity or interference observed between Mouse SST and analogues. Reagents are stored at 2-8℃ and the kit is intended for research in cancer, developmental biology, neuroscience, and stem cells.

Somatostatin is a key hormone that inhibits the release of growth hormone and insulin and plays a crucial role in the control of cell growth, neurotransmission, and hormone secretion. Dysregulation of somatostatin is associated with acromegaly, diabetes, and certain neurological disorders, supporting its use as a biomarker for studying these conditions and exploring potential therapeutic interventions.
