The assay reacts with mouse samples and detects natural and recombinant mouse SLC8A1. Quantitative performance is quoted as a detection range of 78-5000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 39.6 pg/mL. Reported precision values are an intra-assay CV of 6.0% and an inter-assay CV of 8.9%. Linearity data are reported for serum (97-106% at 1:2, 101-113% at 1:4, 104-117% at 1:8, 81-93% at 1:16), EDTA plasma (95-104%, 84-94%, 107-117%, 83-93%) and heparin plasma (118-118%, 105-113%, 111-119%, 104-117%). Recovery is reported at an average of 96% (range 90-102%) for serum and 98% (range 92-104%) for plasma.

The target protein, also known as Na(+)/Ca(2+)-exchange protein 1, Solute carrier family 8 member 1 and NCX, is a multi-pass cell-membrane protein recorded under UniProt accession P70414. It mediates the exchange of one Ca(2+) ion against three to four Na(+) ions across the cell membrane, contributing to the regulation of cytoplasmic Ca(2+) levels and to Ca(2+) transport during excitation-contraction coupling in muscle. The protein is required for normal embryonic heart development and the onset of heart contractions. For research use only.
