ICAM-1 (CD54) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily that mediates leukocyte adhesion through binding to integrins LFA-1 (CD11a/CD18) and Mac-1 (CD11b/CD18). The soluble shed form, sICAM-1, circulates at elevated concentrations during inflammation, viral infection, autoimmune activity, and tumor progression, making it a useful biomarker in mouse models of sepsis, atherosclerosis, allergic airway disease, and transplant rejection.

Reagents are kept refrigerated at 4 °C and protected from light; the microplate is pre-coated with a capture antibody specific for the mouse sICAM-1 extracellular domain.
