Reported performance characteristics include a sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL and a measuring range of 0.313-20 ng/mL. Linearity for serum (n = 10) is 85-100% at 1:2, 83-98% at 1:4 and 85-96% at 1:8 dilution; EDTA plasma (n = 10) shows 85-104%, 83-90% and 84-97% at the same dilutions; heparin plasma (n = 10) shows 87-98%, 82-101% and 82-95%. Recovery averages are 92% for serum, 90% for EDTA plasma and 96% for heparin plasma.

The procedure involves equilibrating TMB substrate for 30 minutes at room temperature, adding 50 µL standard or sample plus 50 µL biotin-labeled antibody per well, incubating at 37°C for 45 minutes, washing five times with a 1 minute soak per wash, developing color in the dark at 37°C for 10-20 minutes, stopping the reaction and reading absorbance at 450 nm. Kits should be stored sealed at 2-8°C and not cryopreserved.
