The assay shows specificity for natural and recombinant mouse Rab GDP dissociation inhibitor alpha and is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. GDI1 functions as a key regulator of intracellular membrane trafficking, controlling the GDP/GTP exchange reaction of most Rab proteins by inhibiting the dissociation of GDP and the subsequent binding of GTP, and promoting the release of GDP-bound Rab proteins from membranes.
