The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is intended for research use only, supporting research applications in areas such as cancer and cellular metabolism.

PDK1 is a mitochondrial kinase that plays a key role in regulating glucose and fatty acid metabolism and homeostasis by phosphorylating the pyruvate dehydrogenase subunits PDHA1 and PDHA2, thereby inhibiting pyruvate dehydrogenase activity and regulating metabolite flux through the tricarboxylic acid cycle. Dysregulation of PDK1 has been linked to metabolic disorders, cancer, and other diseases. The kit provides a detection range of 0.78-50ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.22ng/mL, and is specific for natural and recombinant mouse PDK1. Reported linearity values at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16 dilutions are: Serum (N=5) 107-117%, 96-107%, 110-120%, 96-108%; EDTA Plasma (N=5) 101-111%, 116-125%, 97-108%, 112-122%; Heparin Plasma (N=5) 102-112%, 106-115%, 111-120%, 99-109%. The target protein has a molecular weight of 48.7 kDa and is localized to the mitochondrion matrix, functioning as a homodimer or heterodimer with PDK2 and interacting with the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex subunit DLAT.
