PDHA2 is a testis-specific mitochondrial matrix enzyme, also known by the synonyms PDHE1-A type II, Pdha-2 and Pdhal, with a reported molecular weight of 43,413 Da. Within the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex it catalyses the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate to acetyl-CoA and CO2, linking the glycolytic pathway to the tricarboxylic cycle, and localises to the mitochondrion matrix.
