Description

From Assay Genie, this Mouse-reactive immunoassay is a Sandwich ELISA Kit designed to quantify Pyruvate dehydrogenase E1 component subunit alpha, somatic form, mitochondrial (PDHA1), also known by the synonyms PDHE1-A type I and Pdha-1. The kit is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and detects both natural and recombinant mouse PDHA1.

PDHA1 is the alpha subunit of the pyruvate dehydrogenase E1 component, which forms a heterotetramer of two PDHA1 and two PDHB subunits and interacts with DLAT within the multimeric pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. This complex catalyses the overall conversion of pyruvate to acetyl-CoA and CO2, thereby linking the glycolytic pathway to the tricarboxylic cycle. The protein resides in the mitochondrion matrix and has a reported molecular weight of 43,232 Da (UniProt P35486; NCBI Gene ID 18597). According to the manufacturer, dysregulation of PDHA1 has been linked to metabolic disorders such as diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases, making the kit useful for research into these conditions and potential therapeutic interventions.

The kit is supplied as a colorimetric sandwich ELISA with a detection range of 1.56–100 nmol/L and a sensitivity of 0.78 nmol/L, and is intended for research use only.
