Description

A colorimetric sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative detection of mouse Pulmonary surfactant-associated protein C (Sftpc) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay is for research use only and specifically recognises natural and recombinant mouse SFTPC, also known by the synonyms Pulmonary surfactant-associated proteolipid SPL(Val), SP5, SP-C and Sftp2. The target is investigated within the Signal Transduction research area and is localised as a secreted protein to the extracellular space and surface film.

SFTPC plays an important role in maintaining proper lung function and surfactant production. Pulmonary surfactant-associated proteins promote alveolar stability by lowering the surface tension at the air-liquid interface in the peripheral air spaces, helping to prevent lung collapse and supporting normal respiratory function. Dysregulation of SFTPC levels has been linked to various pulmonary disorders, making it a valuable biomarker for studying lung biology and respiratory disease pathology in mouse models.

Verified performance characteristics include a detection range of 78-5000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 29.5 pg/mL. Reproducibility is supported by an intra-assay CV of 4.8% and an inter-assay CV of 10.4%. Linearity has been evaluated in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at multiple dilutions, and recovery has been assessed in serum and plasma matrices. The associated UniProt entry is P21841, and the protein has a reported molecular weight of 12.4 kDa.
