Description

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is intended for the quantitative detection of mouse Prothrombin (also known as Coagulation factor II, Cf2) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit uses a colorimetric ELISA readout and is for research use only, supporting studies of prothrombin biology, hemostasis, thrombosis, and related bleeding or thrombotic disorders in mouse models. Prothrombin is described as a key protein in the blood clotting cascade.

Performance specifications include a detection range of 1.56-100ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.8ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 5.8%, and an inter-assay CV of 8.3%. Linearity was verified for serum (95-105% at 1:2, 80-92% at 1:4, 105-117% at 1:8, 113-113% at 1:16), EDTA plasma (104-113% at 1:2, 92-102% at 1:4, 104-114% at 1:8, 110-120% at 1:16) and heparin plasma (85-98% at 1:2, 106-114% at 1:4, 94-104% at 1:8, 106-115% at 1:16). Recovery averaged 86% in serum (range 80-92%) and 88% in plasma (range 82-94%). The kit detects natural and recombinant mouse Prothrombin.

Mouse prothrombin (UniProt P19221; NCBI Gene ID 14061) is encoded by the F2 gene. The active protease thrombin cleaves bonds after Arg and Lys, converts fibrinogen to fibrin, and activates factors V, VII, VIII, XIII, and protein C in complex with thrombomodulin. The protein is secreted as a heterodimer (alpha-thrombin) of a disulfide-linked light and heavy chain and forms a heterodimer with SERPINA5, with roles in blood homeostasis, inflammation and wound healing. The listed research area is Cancer.
