Description

Designed for neuroscience research, this Sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of mouse Protein kinase C gamma type (PRKCG), also known by the synonyms PKC-gamma, Pkcc, Pkcg, and Prkcc. PRKCG is a calcium-activated, phospholipid- and diacylglycerol (DAG)-dependent serine/threonine-protein kinase that plays diverse roles in neuronal cells and eye tissues, including regulation of the neuronal receptors GRIA4/GLUR4 and GRIN1/NMDAR1, modulation of receptors and neuronal functions related to sensitivity to opiates, pain and alcohol, mediation of synaptic function and cell survival after ischemia, and inhibition of gap junction activity after oxidative stress.

The kit is intended for use with mouse samples, including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. It detects natural and recombinant mouse Protein kinase C gamma type, with a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.087ng/mL. Assay performance is characterised by an intra-assay CV of 6.2% and an inter-assay CV of 7.7%. Linearity has been demonstrated across serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16, with average recovery of 88% for serum and 90% for plasma.

The target protein is associated with UniProt accession P63318 and is localised to the cytoplasm, perinuclear region, cell membrane, synaptic membranes, and dendrites, where it translocates to synaptic membranes on stimulation. By measuring PRKCG levels, researchers can investigate its role in cell signalling, synaptic plasticity, neuropathic pain, and related disease contexts, including neurodegenerative, cancer, and cardiovascular research.
