Mouse Protein bassoon (Bsn) ELISA Kit

This Sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the precise measurement of Protein bassoon (Bsn) levels in mouse serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and is intended for research use. The kit offers exceptional sensitivity and specificity, and targets the BSN protein, also known by the synonym Kiaa0434.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 31.2-2000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 15.6pg/mL. Intra-assay CV is reported at 4.3% and inter-assay CV at 6.2%. Linearity has been evaluated in serum (N=5) at dilutions 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16, giving 102-112%, 84-84%, 97-97% and 108-118%, respectively; in EDTA plasma (N=5) the corresponding values are 101-113%, 96-106%, 88-97% and 88-99%; and in heparin plasma (N=5) 108-117%, 107-117%, 109-119% and 80-91%. Recovery averages 95% (range 89-101%) for serum and 97% (range 91-103%) for plasma. The assay is specific for natural and recombinant mouse Protein bassoon.

Protein bassoon is thought to be involved in the organization of the cytomatrix at the nerve terminals active zone (CAZ) which regulates neurotransmitter release, acting through binding to ERC2/CAST1. It is essential in regulated neurotransmitter release from a subset of brain glutamatergic synapses and is involved in the formation of retinal photoreceptor ribbon synapses, with the protein localized to the active zone of presynaptic density. Dysregulation of BASSOON has been implicated in neurological disorders such as autism, schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease, making it a valuable biomarker for investigation of these conditions.
