Description

Designed for the quantitative detection of mouse prostatic acid phosphatase in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, this Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie uses a colorimetric detection method and is reactive with mouse samples. The reagents supplied are intended for research use only.

Validated performance specifications include a detection range of 0.312–20 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.156 ng/mL. Reported intra-assay CV is 4.9% and inter-assay CV is 7.1%. Linearity has been assessed in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma (n=5) at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16, spanning 106–118% in serum, 86–120% in EDTA plasma and 83–117% in heparin plasma. Recovery averaged 95% in serum (range 89–101%) and 97% in plasma (range 91–103%). Specificity is reported for natural and recombinant mouse prostatic acid phosphatase.

ACPP is described as a non-specific tyrosine phosphatase that dephosphorylates a range of substrates under acidic conditions (pH 4–6) and exhibits lipid phosphatase activity, inactivating lysophosphatidic acid in seminal plasma. The protein is documented to play a key role in prostate development and function, as well as in the regulation of apoptosis and cell differentiation. Isoform 2 additionally possesses ecto-5'-nucleotidase activity in dorsal root ganglion neurons, generating adenosine from AMP that acts as a pain suppressor. The functional unit is a homodimer, with dimer formation required for phosphatase activity, and the marker is associated with prostate cancer and related research areas.
