Mouse Prostaglandin G/H synthase 2 (Ptgs2) ELISA Kit

A Sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie detects mouse Prostaglandin G/H synthase 2 (Ptgs2), also called cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. It recognises natural and recombinant mouse PTGS2 and is intended for research use only.

Detection range is 0.312–20 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.165 ng/mL; intra-assay CV is 5.1% and inter-assay CV is 9.3%. Linearity in serum (N=5) was 89–89% at 1:2, 98–110% at 1:4, 87–99% at 1:8 and 81–91% at 1:16; EDTA plasma gave 99–110%, 108–120%, 97–107% and 110–119%; heparin plasma gave 88–99%, 104–114%, 107–116% and 98–108% across the same dilutions. Recovery averaged 88% in serum (range 82–94%) and 90% in plasma (range 84–96%).

PTGS2 converts arachidonate to prostaglandin H2 (PGH2), the committed step in prostanoid synthesis. It is constitutively expressed in the endothelium, kidney and brain under physiological conditions and is implicated in pathological states such as cancer, where up-regulation has been associated with changes in cell adhesion, resistance to apoptosis and tumour angiogenesis. The protein is a homodimer (UniProt Q05769) localised to microsome and endoplasmic reticulum membranes, and the kit is grouped under cardiovascular research.
