Mouse Pro-opiomelanocortin (Pomc) ELISA Kit

According to the manufacturer's specification, the kit offers a detection range of 15.6–1000pg/mL with a sensitivity of 7.8pg/mL. Reported precision is an intra-assay CV of 6.3% and an inter-assay CV of 8.2%. Linearity was evaluated across serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions. Recovery was measured in serum (average 84%, range 80–90%) and plasma (average 86%, range 80–92%).

Pro-opiomelanocortin is a polypeptide precursor that, through tissue-specific post-translational processing, gives rise to biologically active peptides including adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and beta-endorphin, with beta-endorphin and Met-enkephalin described as endogenous opiates. These peptides participate in stress responses, immune function and pain perception, and are relevant to research areas such as obesity, metabolic and inflammatory conditions, adrenal development and pigmentation.
