The kit, specific for natural and recombinant mouse POU domain, class 3, transcription factor 2, targets a nuclear POU-family class-3 transcription factor also known by synonyms such as Brain-specific homeobox/POU domain protein 2, Brain-2, Brn-2, Brn2, Oct-7, Octamer-binding protein 7, Octamer-binding transcription factor 7, OTF-7, Otf7 and Nervous system-specific octamer-binding transcription factor N-Oct-3.

Reported performance specifications include a detection range of 0.156-10ng/ml and a sensitivity of 0.08ng/mL. The target protein binds preferentially to a recognition sequence of two half-sites ('GCAT' and 'TAAT') separated by a non-conserved 0, 2 or 3 nucleotide spacer and positively regulates genes controlled by corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) and CRH II promoters. It is implicated in neural processes including brain development, neuron differentiation, astrocyte development, hypothalamus cell differentiation and peripheral nervous system myelination.
