Description

A Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie designed for the accurate quantification of SERPINF1 (Pigment Epithelium-Derived Factor, PEDF) levels in mouse serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is reported to provide high sensitivity and specificity, supporting reliable and reproducible results across a range of research applications.

SERPINF1, also known as PEDF, is a multifunctional secreted neurotrophic protein (UniProt P97298, molecular weight 46,234 Da) implicated in angiogenesis, neuroprotection, and anti-inflammation. It plays a role in regulating cell growth, differentiation, and survival and is regarded as a valuable biomarker for studying diseases including cancer, diabetes, and retinopathy. At the molecular level, PEDF induces extensive neuronal differentiation in retinoblastoma cells and acts as a potent inhibitor of angiogenesis; because it does not undergo the S (stressed) to R (relaxed) conformational transition characteristic of active serpins, it exhibits no serine protease inhibitory activity.

Manufacturer-reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.78–50 ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.36 ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 5.3%, and an inter-assay CV of 9.9%. Linearity data are provided for serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16. Recovery averages 106% for serum and 108% for plasma. Recognised synonyms include Caspin, Serpin F1, Stromal cell-derived factor 3, SDF-3, and PEDF. The kit is intended for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids, and specifically detects natural and recombinant mouse Pigment epithelium-derived factor. For research use only.
