Description

Assay Genie offers a sandwich-format ELISA kit for the quantitative measurement of Mouse Platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase (Pla2g7), an enzyme implicated in lipid metabolism and inflammation and studied in the context of atherosclerosis, inflammatory diseases, and neurological disorders. The kit is reactive with mouse samples, and the target protein is secreted to the extracellular space and falls within the Immunology research area (UniProt entry Q60963; reported molecular weight 49,258 Da).

According to the manufacturer's specifications, the kit detects natural and recombinant mouse PLA2G7 across a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL, with a sensitivity of 39.2pg/mL. Reported precision values are an intra-assay CV of 6.8% and an inter-assay CV of 8.7%. Recovery has been characterised in serum (average 85%, range 80-91%) and plasma (average 87%, range 81-93%). Validated sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and the product is labelled for research use only.

PLA2G7 modulates the action of platelet-activating factor (PAF) by hydrolysing the sn-2 ester bond to yield biologically inactive lyso-PAF, and shows specificity for substrates with a short residue at the sn-2 position while being inactive against long-chain phospholipids. The protein is also referred to by synonyms including 1-alkyl-2-acetylglycerophosphocholine esterase, 2-acetyl-1-alkylglycerophosphocholine esterase, LDL-associated phospholipase A2, PAF 2-acylhydrolase, LDL-PLA(2), PAF acetylhydrolase and Pafah.
