PIIINP is the N-terminal propeptide of type III procollagen, released during the extracellular processing of newly synthesized type III collagen. Circulating levels of this propeptide serve as a non-invasive indicator of active collagen deposition in fibrotic conditions affecting the liver, myocardium, lungs, and other organs, making it a valuable biomarker in studies of tissue remodeling and disease progression.
This Assay Genie kit provides a quantitative ELISA that detects mouse PIIINP. The assay is designed to work with blood-derived mouse samples and other sample matrices commonly used in preclinical fibrosis research, supporting applications such as in vitro biomarker quantification and translational studies of tissue remodeling.
The assay uses a colorimetric readout, with absorbance measurements proportional to PIIINP concentration in each well. The kit is supplied as a complete set of reagents sufficient for 96 determinations in a microplate format, along with the buffers, standards, and conjugate needed to run the assay in a standard laboratory setting.
Researchers using this kit typically work with small-volume mouse samples derived from experimental models of hepatic fibrosis, myocardial injury, pulmonary disease, or systemic fibrogenesis. The protocol is compatible with standard laboratory equipment, and results can be compared against a standard curve generated from the calibrators included in the kit. By providing a reproducible readout of type III collagen synthesis, this PIIINP ELISA supports investigations into the mechanisms of extracellular matrix deposition and the evaluation of potential anti-fibrotic interventions in preclinical mouse studies.
Storage and handling should follow standard immunoassay practice: keep kit components refrigerated between uses, protect from light, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of working reagents. Each kit is intended for research use only and should be reserved for non-diagnostic applications such as biomarker discovery, mechanistic studies of collagen turnover, and longitudinal monitoring of disease models.
