Description

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie is available for the quantitative detection of Procollagen Type III N-terminal peptide (PIIICP) in mouse samples. The assay uses a double-antibody sandwich format with a colorimetric TMB substrate, and is validated for serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples.

According to the manufacturer's specifications, the kit has a sensitivity of 9.375 pg/mL and a standard range of 15.625-1000 pg/mL. Reported recovery is 94-105% (average 99%) for serum, 85-105% (average 96%) for EDTA plasma, and 85-103% (average 95%) for heparin plasma (n=5). Reported linearity at 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 dilutions is 86-103%, 88-104% and 85-101% for serum; 85-99%, 84-97% and 84-100% for EDTA plasma; and 82-99%, 82-96% and 83-100% for heparin plasma (n=5). The workflow includes an antigen-binding incubation at 37°C for 90 minutes, a 60-minute biotin-labelled detection antibody step, a 30-minute HRP-streptavidin (SABC) incubation, and a 10–20 minute TMB colour development step before absorbance is read at 450 nm. Unopened kit components are stored at 2-8°C for 12 months.

PIIICP is a key marker for collagen metabolism that plays a critical role in tissue remodelling and fibrosis. Elevated PIIICP levels have been associated with liver fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis and other connective tissue disorders, supporting its use as a biomarker for studying these diseases and potential therapeutic interventions in mouse models.
