Quantitative profiling of mouse Protocadherin 15 (PCDH15) supports research into inner ear hair cell biology, mechanotransduction, retinal photoreceptor maintenance, and the molecular basis of Usher syndrome type 1F. The Assay Genie Mouse PCDH15 ELISA Kit enables this measurement through a complete absorbance-based, colorimetric immunoassay configured as a 96-assay microplate kit for use with mouse-derived samples.

PCDH15 itself is a transmembrane cadherin-related protein best known for forming the tip-link filament that couples mechanical deflection of stereocilia to mechanotransduction channel opening in cochlear and vestibular hair cells; loss-of-function alleles in the mouse produce circling behavior, vestibular deficits, and progressive hearing loss that mirror aspects of the corresponding human disease. The kit supports studies of auditory and vestibular neuroscience, hair bundle morphogenesis, retinal integrity, and characterization of mouse lines carrying Pcdh15 mutations such as the classical av or Nmf18 strains.

Supplied components include pre-coated plate wells, assay diluent, wash buffer, a recombinant PCDH15 standard, biotinylated detection antibody, and substrate sufficient for a full 96-assay plate. Researchers aliquot the reconstituted standard into single-use vials upon receipt to limit freeze-thaw cycles, keep all reagents refrigerated at 4 degrees C between uses, and equilibrate plates to room temperature before each run. The kit is intended for research use only in laboratory settings.
