Description
A sandwich-format ELISA kit from Assay Genie for the quantitative detection of mouse Ornithine decarboxylase (Odc1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is reactive with mouse samples, with a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.156ng/mL.
Ornithine decarboxylase is a key enzyme that catalyzes the first and rate-limiting step of polyamine biosynthesis, converting ornithine into putrescine, the precursor for the polyamines spermidine and spermine. Polyamines are essential for cell proliferation and are implicated in cellular processes ranging from DNA replication to apoptosis. Dysregulation of ODC1 has been linked to various diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and inflammation, making the enzyme a useful marker for studying disease progression and potential therapeutic interventions in the cell biology research area.
The kit is for research use only and specifically detects natural and recombinant mouse Ornithine decarboxylase. The active protein functions as a homodimer, and only the dimer is catalytically active, with the active sites constructed of residues from both monomers.
