Description

From Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of mouse orexin (also known as hypocretin, Hcrt) in biological samples. The kit demonstrates high sensitivity and specificity for natural and recombinant mouse orexin, enabling accurate and reproducible results across a range of research applications in neuroscience, endocrinology, and metabolism. It is reactive with mouse samples and validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids.

The assay achieves a detection range of 7.8-500pg/mL with a sensitivity of 4.24pg/mL. Precision is supported by an intra-assay CV of 5.2% and inter-assay CV of 9.5%. Recovery is reported at an average of 103% for serum (range 97-109%) and 105% for plasma (range 99-111%). Linearity data for serial dilutions (1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16) span 103-113%, 94-104%, 101-110%, and 106-116% for serum; 90-99%, 83-93%, 99-109%, and 92-102% for EDTA plasma; and 102-112%, 101-114%, 94-104%, and 108-117% for heparin plasma.

Orexin is a hypothalamic neuropeptide involved in the regulation of food intake and sleep-wakefulness, with a broader role in the homeostatic regulation of energy metabolism, autonomic function, hormonal balance, and the regulation of body fluids. Orexin-A binds to both OX1R and OX2R with a high affinity, whereas orexin-B binds only to OX2R with a similar high affinity. The kit falls within the metabolism research area and is for research use only.
