Description

An Assay Genie sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the precise quantification of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in mouse samples, including serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. The double-antibody sandwich format with colorimetric detection is intended for research applications exploring the role of NSE in neurobiology and neuroscience.

NSE is a vital protein found in neurons, with changes in its levels linked to various neurological disorders and brain injuries, making it a valuable biomarker for studying these conditions. The assay provides a sensitivity of 46.875 pg/mL and an analytical range of 78.125–5000 pg/mL. The kit is supplied with reagents for storage at 2-8°C for 12 months. Synonyms recognised for this target include ENO2, gamma-Enolase, Neural enolase, and neuron specific gamma enolase (Uniprot P17183; research area: Metabolism).

The procedure involves equilibrating reagents to room temperature, loading standards, samples and blanks, then incubating the plate at 37°C for 90 minutes. A biotin-labeled detection antibody is added and incubated for 60 minutes, followed by HRP-Streptavidin for 30 minutes. TMB substrate is then added and incubated in the dark for 10–20 minutes; the reaction is stopped and absorbance read at 450 nm.
