Chrna4 (synonym Acra4; Uniprot O70174) is a ligand-gated ion channel subunit that binds acetylcholine and, upon ligand binding, undergoes a conformational change that opens an ion-conducting channel across the plasma membrane permeable to sodium ions. The alpha-4 subunit can combine with beta-2 or beta-4 to form functional receptors.
