Mouse Neuronal acetylcholine receptor subunit alpha-2 (Chrna2) ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative detection of mouse Neuronal acetylcholine receptor subunit alpha-2 (Chrna2). The assay is reactive with mouse samples and detects natural and recombinant mouse Chrna2 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit has a detection range of 0.78–50 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.399 ng/mL.

Chrna2 encodes an alpha subunit of the neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. Upon binding acetylcholine, the receptor undergoes a conformational change that opens an ion-conducting channel across the plasma membrane. The alpha-2 subunit can combine with beta-2 or beta-4 subunits to form functional heteropentameric receptors, proposed to exist in low and high agonist-sensitivity subtypes that differ in their subunit binding interfaces. Defects in CHRNA2 are the cause of autosomal dominant nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy type 4 (ENFL4), an epilepsy characterized by nocturnal seizures associated with fear sensation, tongue movements and nocturnal wandering.
