Description

A Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie for the quantitative detection of mouse Nephrin (Nphs1). The assay is designed for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and shows reactivity with mouse samples. Detection is carried out by a colorimetric ELISA method, with a reported detection range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.078 ng/mL.

Performance characteristics include an intra-assay CV of 6.8% and inter-assay CV of 8.7%. Linearity across dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 was 80-90%, 98-107%, 102-111% and 91-101% for serum; 103-111%, 82-90%, 110-110% and 109-119% for EDTA plasma; and 105-114%, 91-100%, 92-101% and 92-105% for heparin plasma. Recovery was 96% (range 90-102) for serum and 98% (range 92-104) for plasma. The kit is specific for natural and recombinant mouse Nephrin.

Nephrin is a single-pass type I membrane protein located at the podocyte slit diaphragm between podocyte foot processes. It plays a role in the development and function of the kidney glomerular filtration barrier, regulates glomerular vascular permeability, may anchor the podocyte slit diaphragm to the actin cytoskeleton, and contributes to skeletal muscle formation through regulation of myoblast fusion. The protein is specifically expressed in podocytes of kidney glomeruli and belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily (UniProt Q9QZS7). The kit is supplied for research use only and components are stored at -20°C.
