Alpha-N-acetylgalactosaminidase cleaves terminal alpha-linked N-acetylgalactosamine residues from glycoprotein and glycolipid substrates, and its deficiency underlies Schindler disease and Kanzaki disease in humans. The murine-specific antibody pair enables selective detection of mouse alpha-NAGA without significant cross-reactivity to related human or rat glycosidases.

Mouse models carrying targeted NAGA mutations are central to lysosomal storage disorder research, enzyme replacement therapy trials, and investigations into glycosphingolipid catabolism. This two-site immunoassay format supports quantification of enzyme levels in tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants, and serum from experimental animals.
