Mouse Mucin-1 (Muc1) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA is designed for the quantitative detection of mouse Mucin-1 (MUC1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay offers a sensitivity of 39 pg/mL and a detection range of 78-5000 pg/mL, with an intra-assay CV of 6.9% and inter-assay CV of 8.7%. It specifically recognises natural and recombinant mouse Mucin-1, with reported serum recovery averaging 86% (range 80-92%) and plasma recovery averaging 88% (range 82-94%).

MUC1 is a large transmembrane glycoprotein expressed by most glandular and ductal epithelial cells. It participates in cell adhesion, cell-cell interactions, metastasis and intracellular signalling, and its cytoplasmic tail engages pathways involving Ras, beta-catenin, p53 and estrogen receptor alpha. Aberrantly glycosylated MUC1 forms are found in human epithelial tumours such as breast and ovarian cancer, supporting its use as a biomarker in cancer research and a candidate for targeted therapy development.
