Description

Assay Genie offers a sandwich ELISA kit for the quantitative detection of mouse Mu-type opioid receptor (Oprm1) in mouse samples. The assay is designed for the accurate measurement of OPRM1 levels in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids, with reactivity confirmed for mouse. Synonyms for the target recognised by the kit include M-OR-1, Mor and Oprm, and the UniProt accession referenced for the protein is P42866.

Performance characteristics quoted by the manufacturer include a detection range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.078 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is given as 6.8% and inter-assay CV as 8.7%. Specificity is reported for natural and recombinant mouse Mu-type opioid receptor. Spike-recovery is reported as 100% (94-106%) for serum and 102% (96-108%) for plasma. The kit is intended for research use only.

OPRM1 is a G-protein-coupled receptor for endogenous opioids such as beta-endorphin and endomorphin, as well as natural and synthetic opioids including morphine, heroin, DAMGO, fentanyl, etorphine, buprenorphine and methadone. Agonist binding couples the receptor predominantly to pertussis toxin-sensitive Gi/Go proteins, leading to inhibition of adenylate cyclase, modulation of calcium and potassium channels, and activation of MAPK, PLC, PKC, PI3K and NF-kappa-B pathways. The research area is neurosciences, supporting studies of opioid signalling, addiction, tolerance, withdrawal and pain mechanisms.
