The Mouse Midkine (MK) ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is a sandwich immunoassay that quantitatively measures midkine (MDK), a 13 kDa heparin-binding growth factor involved in neural development, tissue repair, angiogenesis, inflammatory signaling, and tumor progression. The 96-well microplate format with colorimetric detection accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants, supporting diverse experimental designs across oncology, neurobiology, and regenerative medicine research.

Midkine was first characterized as a retinoic acid-responsive transcript enriched during mid-gestation embryogenesis and is now recognized for its contributions to leukocyte recruitment, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and chemokine-like signaling. Aberrant MK expression has been reported in rheumatoid synovium, colitis models, ischemic myocardium, glioblastoma, and several carcinomas, motivating quantitative biomarker studies in mouse disease models. This kit provides capture and detection antibodies raised against mouse MDK, enabling investigators to track circulating and tissue-localized protein levels across treatment cohorts and experimental time points.

Each kit includes a pre-coated microplate, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, standard diluent, calibrated reference standards, wash buffer, and substrate solution. The protocol uses a 50 uL sample volume per well, with results calculated against a parallel standard curve. Store unopened components refrigerated between uses, protect from light, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of conjugate and standard reagents to preserve activity through the stated shelf life. For research use only; not validated for clinical diagnostic applications.
