Validated sample types include serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples, with detection carried out colorimetrically. MTTP is a key protein in lipid metabolism, transferring triglycerides to apolipoprotein B to support the formation of very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) and chylomicrons, and its dysregulation has been linked to obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.

The kit reports a sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL and a working range of 0.313–20 ng/mL. Linearity (n = 5) is reported for serum at 86–101% (1:2), 85–97% (1:4), and 81–99% (1:8); EDTA plasma at 90–99%, 85–101%, and 83–94%; and heparin plasma at 87–102%, 82–95%, and 91–97%. Recovery averages 94% for serum (range 85–105%), 96% for EDTA plasma (range 92–98%), and 97% for heparin plasma (range 85–100%). Storage is at 2–8°C for 12 months, and the assay is suited to studies of metabolic disease in mouse models.
