Description

Assay Genie provides this sandwich ELISA for the quantitative measurement of mouse Microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (Mitf). The assay is intended for research use only and detects natural and recombinant mouse Mitf in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. Synonyms listed for the target include Bw, Mi and Vit, and the protein is annotated to UniProt Q08874.

Performance specifications include a detection range of 0.312-20 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.090 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 6.5% and inter-assay CV is 8.0%. Linearity in serum (N=5) is reported as 95-104%, 93-102%, 106-117% and 116-116% at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions respectively, with EDTA plasma at 106-116%, 105-115%, 87-96% and 107-116%, and heparin plasma at 87-87%, 117-117%, 108-118% and 101-113%. Recovery averages 87% (range 81-93%) for serum and 89% (range 83-95%) for plasma. Specificity covers natural and recombinant mouse Mitf, and the research area is listed as immunology.

Mitf is a nuclear transcription factor that regulates the expression of genes with essential roles in cell differentiation, proliferation and survival. It binds M-boxes (5'-TCATGTG-3') and symmetrical E-boxes (5'-CACGTG-3') in the promoters of target genes such as BCL2 and tyrosinase (TYR), and plays an important role in melanocyte development by regulating TYR and tyrosinase-related protein 1 (TYRP1). The protein is critical for the differentiation of neural crest-derived melanocytes, mast cells, osteoclasts and optic cup-derived retinal pigment epithelium.
