Description
Developed by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit uses a colorimetric detection method to quantify mouse melanopsin (OPN4) in research samples. It is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids, and reacts with mouse samples to detect both natural and recombinant mouse melanopsin.
The assay provides a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL with a sensitivity of 40.3pg/mL, supporting work in circadian biology, vision science, and the neurosciences. Melanopsin is a light-sensitive protein expressed in retinal ganglion cells, where it contributes to the regulation of the biological clock and the pupillary light reflex, and is studied as a biomarker for circadian rhythm and vision-related disorders. The target protein is catalogued under UniProt entry Q9QXZ9 (NCBI Gene ID: 30044), with a reported molecular weight of 51,220 Da.
Also known by the synonyms Opsin-4, Mop, and Mopn, melanopsin is a multi-pass membrane protein localised to the cell membrane and found in the soma, dendrites, and proximal axons of certain retinal ganglion cells. Intra-assay CV, inter-assay CV, linearity, and recovery data are provided with the kit, and the product is intended for research use only.
