Mouse Melanocortin receptor 4 (Mc4r) ELISA Kit

This sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative detection of mouse Melanocortin Receptor 4 (MC4R) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and shows reactivity with mouse samples, targeting both natural and recombinant MC4R. Synonym: MC4-R.

The kit provides a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.156ng/mL. Precision data show an intra-assay CV of 6.2% and inter-assay CV of 8.0%. Linearity has been validated across serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16, with serum ranging from 92-112%, EDTA plasma from 80-116%, and heparin plasma from 97-116%. Recovery values average 91% (range 85-97%) for serum and 93% (range 87-99%) for plasma.

MC4R is a G-protein coupled receptor specific to the heptapeptide core common to adrenocorticotropic hormone and alpha-, beta-, and gamma-MSH. It plays a central role in energy homeostasis, appetite regulation, metabolism, and somatic growth, with signalling mediated by G proteins that stimulate adenylate cyclase (cAMP). The receptor is localised to the cell membrane as a multi-pass membrane protein (UniProt P56450) and is relevant to cardiovascular research, as well as studies of obesity and metabolic disorders.
