MMP12, also known as macrophage elastase, is a zinc-dependent endopeptidase that degrades elastin and other extracellular matrix components, and it is a frequent target in murine models of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, atherosclerosis, and inflammatory tissue remodeling. The Mouse Matrix Metalloproteinase 12 (MMP12) ELISA Kit from Assay Genie provides a quantitative immunoassay format for measuring mouse MMP12 levels in laboratory research settings.

The kit ships as a complete 96-assay microplate package, supplying pre-coated wells, capture and detection reagents, a standard curve set, and the buffers required to run samples. Optical density values are read on a standard microplate reader, giving an absorbance-based quantitative readout. All reagents are intended for laboratory research only and are not cleared for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.

Compatible input materials include mouse serum samples, plasma preparations, tissue homogenates, and additional related biospecimens commonly used in mouse studies. Researchers investigating pulmonary inflammation, macrophage activity, or extracellular matrix turnover frequently apply this kit to bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, lung tissue lysates, and circulating samples. The assay is specific to mouse MMP12 and is not validated by the manufacturer for other species.

Unopened components should be kept refrigerated until first use and allowed to equilibrate to room temperature before the run. Reconstituted standards and detection antibody aliquots are sensitive to repeated freeze-thaw cycles, so single-use aliquots are recommended for long-term storage.
