TMPO is a single-pass type II membrane protein tightly associated with the nuclear lamina. The protein is described as a possible receptor for attachment of lamin filaments to the inner nuclear membrane and may be involved in controlling the initiation of DNA replication through its interaction with HAP95. Abnormalities in TMPO expression have been associated with dilated cardiomyopathy and upregulation in medulloblastoma.
